In preparation for this Imail move, I have been looking through IMAIL's
recommended setup for primary/local host, and comparing it to the
present setup which was done before my time here.

The machine name of the new server Mercury.todhunter.com

The old machine that IMAIL is currently running on, is called
Laserver.todhunter.com

When I click on the local host tab, in IMAIL, the local host is showing
up as todhunter.com. I thought that had to be the actual machine name of
the box Imail runs on?

Browsing through our current setup, there is nowhere in IMAIL itself
that actually uses the real machine name as the host name.

I am trying to duplicate this current setup as closely as possible
because I am not a DNS guru and would just like to change IP addresses
in our DNS rather then create new records.

I have already created an A record for mercury pointing to its public IP
address. (207.190.36.135)

Our users have mail.todhunter.com as their mail server in their email
client. I already have an A record set up for mail, pointing to the
current IP address of the mail server (207.190.36.130). I want to keep
this server setting in the user's mail clients.

If I go through our DNS, and just change all the IP addresses that point
to the current public mail IP address, and point them to the new
address, will this work?

I guess I'm confused as to how all this is working without laserver
actually being the name showing up in the local host box in IMAIL
itself.

There is no hosts file in the drivers\etc folder either. Was someone a
genius when they set it up , or is it amazing that its even working?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
