Hi Les, we have the same problem sometimes. Our users use Outlook Express 5.5 as client. This happens randomly to users with a large number of messages and/or large attachments in the inbox. If you look in the users mail folder on the server you will probably find the mail.mbx renamed to main.pop/main.omb. Just ask your user to leave OE and wait some minutes and than open OE again. Then all messages should be back again. This helps always with our users.
Our users chaeck their mailboxes with IMAP. We are also running IMAIL 6.06 Heinrich -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Les Bevan Sent: Monday, March 04, 2002 3:43 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [IMail Forum] the amazing disappearing and reappearing emails over the past couple of weeks we have had several users complain that all their mail has disappeared. when we check their inbox on their PC's it is empty (this is using OE5 as a client) when we check via Web mail it is empty and when we check the contents of the inbox.mbx it is also empty. the users swear blind that they have not deleted the files (but who can trust users!). the weird thing is that after a while all the emails reappear in the inbox as if nothing has happened. we have not restored the files or played around with the file system - it is very strange we are running 6.06 and Outlook Express (versions ranging from 5 to 6) has anyone else experienced anything like this before? regards Les.
