Thanks for the advice. This is a software list that I have been on for about 7 years now, and we've had to make 3 switches during that time. They need to be handled with kid-gloves =)
The problem seems to be resolving itself. I've laid my cards on the table, outlined the limitations of the new list, and I've had 30-40 signups today. So it seems to be taking. They are such a whiny group, but not being able to whine in a timely manner on Topica has forced their hand. It made sense for me to host it. I created and run a user site for the software (http://www.stratacafe.com) and I run an active messageboard for new users and hobbiests, so getting the Pro users firmly on board was a bit of a coup for me. Thanks for the help and sorry about clogging this list. I probably should just wait it out. I'm on a few Majordomo lists as well, so these limitations aren't new to me.
