Great. Aside from someone using a satellite connection from a provider in
another country, it seems that everyone else is getting accurate results.

>The NetGeo does not seem to work for any .ca domains though.

Interesting. I just checked a .ca domain and didn't get any results
either, but entering in the IP did. More information about NetGeo can be
found at http://www.caida.org/tools/utilities/netgeo/ .

>timing option

Yes -- because it will take an average user longer to perform a DNS lookup
on www.example.ca than it will for www.example.com. The DNS timing test is
designed to determine how quickly DNS lookups are done. The .ca lookup
will take longer because a DNS resolver will need to find the root servers
for .ca, whereas they already will likely have a list of the root servers
for .com.

>which gives our twu.ca domain a D- and my own morning-star.ca
>domain gets an F.

No. You would get an A- (8 points taken off) if everything else was
working well. But, an extra 14 points were taken off because of glue
issues, another 4 points because your DNS servers are also used for
non-authoritative lookups (IE people in your office probably connect to
those servers to look up "www.yahoo.com"), and a whopping 22 points were
taken off for long lookup times.

>As you can see, we are penalized 8 points for having a .ca domain.

And that's unavoidable. The DNS Timing test is quite subjective -- it just
an opinion of the DNS timing. Every domain in .ca zone (or any other
ccTLD) will have those points off. If most of the people going to your web
site are people located in Canada, or people who have recently been to
other .ca sites, then it likely will have little effect on the DNS timing
for those people.
