Hi..
I read this
article that I thought could be of interest.
& on a moral
dilemma while people talk about this issue..
We all know (at
least those of us in USA) of the case in the courts where a thief went into a
home and fell down on a recently waxed floor and broke his leg. He sued
the homeowner for the slippery floor and won. As a friend always says...
"Only in America". So someone can trespass (SPAM) and gets harmed
on my private property (server) and then sue me and
win!???
Now-- does that
make me also liable if I stop a virus from coming to our company? After
all the person that sent it meant it to be executed by the intended recipient
and Scott's company stopped it (shame on you Scott). Can he/she sue
Scott or us for stopping this. After all how do we know it is a virus
until it is executed. Can the virus discussion be extended to
SPAM? one kills my system and wastes a day and the other fills up my
mailbox and kills hours. Of course no virus wants to give me 1 million
dollars or add several inches to my anatomical parts... which could be used as
a counter argument.
As a matter of
policy we stop all attachments with .exe and many other extensions.. are we to
be liable for all that send these files and we block them?
What do I
know? These issues better be left for the Aristotles of the
world.
