Gee, sounds like some one has a (misconceived?) bone to pick with Scott? If I made our mail service as secure and safe as I would like it to be, I would not have any customers!
There is risk in everything we do. We have to weigh the risk against the benefit against the cost. Then take step to mitigate the risk where feasible. It is a constant game/war between us and them. No matter what steps we take today, we will have to take more tomorrow. 1 product/service can never be a fix all. OK, enough of my rambling. Probably equals 3 cents by now anyways. This is a pretty misguided statement considering the insecure nature of e-mail anyway. Anyone truly worried about mail security will use pgp, or some other type of encryption device along with digital signatures. And as for the "extra hop" ??? The Postini service adds about an extra 80 milliseconds to the delivery time of an e-mail. I don't think a companies customers are going to be up in arms about the slow mail system over this one. More likely, the in house systems (running declude, etc.) are going to delay mail more than the postini system.
