Jason, It all depends on your user base, I suppose. If you are an ISP with thousands of subscribers, $3.00 a year per customer represents a considerable amount :) Since you mentioned considering implementing IMGate, you may well find that the latter will indeed cut down bandwidth even "ahead" of the bastion box as it will reject those large messages based on IP address and header contents (i.e. *before* letting through the potentially/usually large DATA portion associated with "undesirable" inbound messages.)
At that point -- running both IMGate *and* subscribing to Postini, -- you may want to re-evaluate the merits of Postini based on cost effectiveness. By the way, I still can't fathom where the claimed "30%" figure comes from. 30% of what, exactly? Number of messages? Number of bytes? Not trying to be confrontational, believe me. I'm sincerely trying to get a grasp as to why Postini is such a bargain. I also want to point out that I firmly believe that Postini is not a complete fix, and personally use Declude Anti virus, and plan on implementing IMGate as well. Both are truly great products. I just think that Postini pays for its self from a bandwith point of view. 3.00 a year per customer isn't a lot anyway.
