Hey Chris,
I am just down the road from you. Anyways your Rep gave the same read I
got from M$ and our CDW account Rep. I would have though the same but I
have been told even to use SQL with ASP web pages you would need the
Proc licensee. I would have figured a connection is made transaction
done license is then available to the next connection. So I went with
MSDE. It will only allow 2GB DB's and I believe 256 connections (That
connection number could be wrong I will try to fine the KB on it) which
is fine for us. One DB for Imail (I hope this weekend changing from AD
to the MSDE) and DB's for each website (ASP). We do a lot of Travel
request and Profile a day and we have not had a problem with the MSDE in
almost 2 years using it for the sites and forms. You do need to archive
the DB's when the start getting to the 2GB limit about once a quarter
for us. The same M$ rep actually told us about MSDE and said it was ok
to use it like that so that's what we do. Also if you use InterDev or
have a copy of SQL wants MSDE is up and running on a Workstation you can
install the enterprise manager and really it acts as SQL just smaller
DB's.
