Ok, to put it more clearly. I have:
1) One Windows 2000 server with IMail 7.0x (currently 7.04 or 7.05 I think)
and three different ip numbers, 213.53.199.208, 210 and 211.
2) Three operating domains. Main domain is tio.nl, other two domains are
student.tio.nl and test.tio.nl. mailserver names in IMail are mailie.tio.nl,
mailie.student.tio.nl and mailie.test.tio.nl.
3) The tio.nl zone has the following relevant lines:

We have done some restyling of the webinterface. There is only one set of
files for the web interface as this interface is supposed to be the same for
all domains, except the login page, which has an input field for the name
and has the domain name to the right of it.
When someone wants to login, the preferred way would be for them to go to
mail.<domain> as this alias will always point to the right mailserver. When
someone types mail.tio.nl (the alias) the correct login screen will be
shown, the same happens for mailie.tio.nl (the canonical name). However it
seems that this is only so because mailie.tio.nl is the default domain. When
a student wants to go to the student login screen and types
mail.student.tio.nl (the alias) (s)he will be shown the login screen for the
tio.nl domain, not the student.tio.nl domain. However typing
mailie.student.tio.nl (the canonical name) WILL show the correct login
screen. The same problem happens with mail.test.tio.nl and
mailie.test.tio.nl.
I have no idea what is happening, at first I thought it might be that the
corresponding reverse PTR records for 213.53.199.208, 210 and 211 were not
available. However fixing that did not fix this problem. A nslookup for each
of these ip addresses will now return the correct canonical name. O yeah,
when one types the ip number to go to one of the login screens in stead of a
dns name, the correct login screen will be shown, go figure. :-(

Go ahead and try each of the addresses given above and see if you can find
any reason why this is so. I have run out of possible reasons and solutions
to this problem. :-( I hope someone overhere now has enough information to
pinpoint the problem or at least to tell me what other information is
neccesary to pinpoint the problem.
