Len,

(I'm composing this using the amazing workaround that, some day, will appear
on the list and I apologize for omitting that one should also copy and paste
the subject in the ultra-simple procedure I described.)

I agree that all mailing lists are likely linear, whatever the program the
mail server uses (Listserv, Listar/Ecartis, etc.) I was being facetious when
I mentioned Ecartis. I also thought that Scott had a very valid point (about
ranking) but you and likely others have seen turnaround times that do not
correlate well with ranking only. As Scott pointed out, if there is a
backlog of unsent mailings, ranking does not come into play.

Chalk me up with suggesting Declude Queue and/or an IMGate outbound MTA for
Ipswitch. Especially if you can strip the headers from mentioning the IMGate
transit point, I figure. This list would then be like all the others we know
of and are subscribed to and this would reflect well on Ipswitch. The
converse is that potential customers might think that IMail's list server
module alone can handle heavy traffic or, should I say, a largish
distribution list.

of course it can.

Probably all list servers membership files are linear lists that start
sending from the top, to the end.

The question is can Imail list server sustain 30 to 60k msgs/hour, like
Ecartis can. The answer is always no.

I think this list is about 5k users. For a new message, the entire list
should be attempted once within 15 minutes max.
