Netscape 6 or its varients will hang web messaging with SSL enabled. This includes Compuserve 7 and Mozilla. I reported the issue to IPSwitch and they were able to verify it. I do not know if the same issue happens with out SSL. it happens on port 443 consistantly and intermittently in imails default port for SSL.
We were able to get all of our webmessaging users to stop using Netscape and we have not had a single lockup since. I hope this helps.
