Unmoderated simply means it isn't reviewed by a designated list
moderator for appropriateness before being passed along to the list.
That doesn't mean a poster isn't expected to do self-moderation. In
most of the mailing lists and newsgroups I've read the participants
have come up with an informal set of guidelines on how to behave.
John has graciously volunteered his time to be keeper of the guidelines
for this mailing list which is made up from individual suggestions from
many of us.
If you don't feel you can follow them then just don't post or better
yet just unsubscribe.
