We're providing this to some of our customers. Set up an alias with the 2 letter address. Set up the real address with the two letters and a digit (or something else to get past the limit).
They need to get their mail at the 3 digit address, but once they've configured their client (using the 2 digit address as the reply-to) they won't know the difference and neither will anyone else.
