Good afternoon everyone, I've had a problem with Dr. Watson giving me smtp32.exe access violations for about a month I think. I've looked through a lot of the stuff in the mailing list archives and the Ipswitch Knowledge Base, but I just can't seem to get it beaten.
This is a PIII 1.0 GHz, 256 MB RAM machine running NT 4.0 with SP6A, plus all the little add on SP stuff since 6A. The network operating system is on C:\ , while IMail and Declude are on D:\ .The problems started somewhere around 7.06 or so I think, maybe a hair sooner, but I've upgraded to 7.12 with HF1 and still have the same problems. So, what have I done to try fixing this? * The machine had been set up to relay for local users - that's now relay for addresses. Incorrect initial set up, good time to change it. Thought maybe I was being spammed to death. * I bought and installed Declude Virus Pro, Junkmail Pro, and Hijack. Thought that might help further reduce spam. * I upped the virtual memory to something huge (1 - 3 GB) on each drive. * I set BindToIP to 0, on suggestion of http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19990608-DM01.htm * I upped the number of recipients per messages on my list from 25 to 40. * I upped the number of maximum SMTP processes from 30 to 40. http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19980302-ES01.htm I was grasping at straws on some of those attempts ... I just can't seem to find anything else to try. Is there anything else any of you know of that I can try, or that you could clue me into? Also ... what kinds of things in what logs might be indicative of these problems? We eventually have to reboot the server if the Dr. Watsons pile up too far (over the weekend, etc.), it starts greatly affecting mail delivery - even halting it on occasion. Thanks for any help you can provide, your time is greatly appreciated.
