Doug,
Verizon DSL has done the same thing with forien SMTP traffic. Unless they host
your e-mail, they will not carry your SMTP traffic. Nor does anything say they have
to. The best fix for this is to set you SMTP relay to require Authenication for relay
and allow relay from all address. Then your MSN users can use your mail server as
thier pop3 and smtp server with no issues with MSN.
No For the buy beware! The danger with this is logon and passwords are passed with
clear text. Anyone with a freeware sniffer grab the info while on the same network as
your users. Monitor your logs for exccise traffic form any one user or users. If you
see a traffic pattern where alot of mails are sent 50 or more a shot you may want to
force a change on a user password. Next you should have a SPAM Policy with users
signing the document stating no e-mails with more than 50 address on them.
Mull it over and let me know what happens.
