Are you controlling access by IP range? If so are these clients all within that IP range, or are the ones requiring authentication outside the IP range? We control SMTP access by IP range, and have customers outside those ranges using Imail, and they must authenticate.

Hi all, We are receiving conflicting reports from our hosting customers. Some Outlook / Outlook Express users report that the "server requires authentication" option is required to access our IMail server while others report that the option must be explicitly disabled. Annoyingly, the Outlook versions we have tested so far don't seem to care, connecting just fine either way. [?!] Have other IMail admins experienced the same thing? Or, is it safe to dismiss certain reports and simply recommend that all Outlook users enable the "server requires authentication" option? We are using IMail version 7.13 with the "Relay Mail for IPs" option. Any help is greatly appreciated. Dave -- David M.
