Something is fishy here.OK I pulled more out of the mail log. Hopefully I got it all and it makes sense.Imail does not bounce the message. It tried 20 times and then failed.
That 20 attempts and then bouncing would be normal if they kept sending a "421" when you connect. But:
That is valid HELO data. ncws.com has an MX record, which is all that is really necessary. It also has an A record. It seems that they are doing obscure HELO checking, and making sure that the A record in the HELO matches the IP address of the mailserver, which is not a reliable spam test.20030220 073912 127.0.0.1 SMTP (1064) >HELO ncws.com 20030220 073912 127.0.0.1 SMTP (1064) 250 Ok.
