I disagree on that statement totally. Passwords should not be accessable by anyone. Certain people with sufficient rights on the server should be able to change them, but that is it. Leaving the passwords open for people to see on the server is a BIG security issue. If you're a small business, with 1 or 2 people who have exclusive access to the server, that's one thing. If you're bigger, and have a support team of people, that's where your security risk comes into play.
