I'm thinking about trying to implement VERP - Variable Envelope Return Paths for our 150,000 piece weekly newsletter.
Basically, each e-mail gets a different, unique, "bounce" address. http://cr.yp.to/proto/verp.txt Since we use Gammadyne for sending our e-mail newsletters, the sending part is easy. It's the handling the bounces where the benefit comes from, and I'm trying to figure out if I can do that with Imail. The only thing I can think of is to use the nobody alias, so that all mail, no matter the address, right or wrong, gets captured. Then, have a program that sorts through that mailbox, separating the good from the bad. Of course, with the amount of spam, the bad will be tremendous. Anybody have any pointers, thoughts?
