Also - I'm looking for the email address to be able to post messages to. Ipswitch's website document IM-19990623-DM06 mentions posting messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm not sure if the domain-name refers to the official host name (email.avila.edu, in my case), the list-server name, or another parameter I'm unaware of. When I send emails to [EMAIL PROTECTED], or [EMAIL PROTECTED] (for our IT group to test), it seems to go nowhere.
A common error is overloading too many functions on too few DNS names. DNS names are free, Imail domains are free, so elaborate functional domain names in both.
Create a new DNS domain:
lists.avila.edu. A ip.ad.re.ss ; ip of Imail
and give it an mx:
lists.avila.edu. mx 10 lists.avila.edu.
Then create a virtual host on Imail of lists.avila.edu, and create all your lists under that sub-domain, so your list-post addresses will be
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
