Hi All,

We're having a similar problem, and it was also discussed yesterday in
the thread "Stuck Queue Issues".

I'd like to know if the problem we are experiencing, and our attempted
resolution (detailed below), is similar to what is being reported on the
list...?

For the past 2 months or so, about once a week, we experience global "MX
Connect Fail" problems. I know this is most commonly a DNS or routing
issue, but these have been checked extensively.

All mail in the outgoing mail queue experiences "MX Connect Fail". The
queue processes 10 times (every 30 minutes) and then the mail is
returned to sender as undeliverable.

When we experience this problem, all other services work normally (POP,
incoming SMTP, web messaging, etc.). The SMTP service shows that it is
'running'.

The problem is fixed by simply stopping and restarting SMTP. Unlike
yesterday's thread, clicking 'Send All' or 'Send One' does not work.

We have checked DNS resolution, DNS connectivity, routing, Registry IP
binding, NIC drivers, backup conflicts (locking files), monitor
conflicts, etc. All without success. The only thing we have not checked
is to attempt to connect to port 25 to one of the failed mail servers,
while we are having the problem.

The only way we even know that this problem is happening is to manually
look at the queue. We only process about 1000 pieces of outgoing mail
per day, and most of the time the queue is empty. If we are having
connect fail issues, the queue will have a bunch of messages. We stop
and restart SMTP and the queue processes and delivers immediately.

We've been running the same box for about 12 months without issues. We
had this problem with 7.15 and also now with 8.0.

Does this seem like a similar problem to what others are experiencing?

Thanks,

Daniel Armstrong
