One of our more active web mail users has had the following problem for quite some
time, and I'm not sure what I can do about it:
btw: I'm using ver 6.06
A user receives an email and reads it via the web messaging interface. When the user
hits 'reply all', one or more of the resulting email addresses (TO or CC) are invalid
- see example below. When the mail is sent, naturally, the bad email addresses are
rejected or ignored, and (maybe) an error report from the local host 'postmaster' is
generated for the user to read.
Below are pasted the incoming message and what happens when 'reply all' is hit (email
addresses changed to protect the innocent: ;-) - of note are the following
discrepancies in the second sample:
1) "Recipient2 <([EMAIL PROTECTED])"> is all messed up - never gets sent to
that person. - note the quote inside the > sign at the end.
2) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Recipient4LastName is the mangled result of one of the last
CC recipient. It seems like the system ignores the correct address on the next line
of the original header and thinks that the name is for a local user ID. Yuck.
How can I fix this problem with web messaging? Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!
Eric N
