The firewall is not acting as a mial server.

I want to exclude any addresses in the 10.1.1.x range, but allow any in
the 10.1.2.x range - I have a number of remote sites that are [say]
10.2.x.x - the scheme was set up a few years ago and follows some strict
rules - I don't want to have to change the scheme...

If you add "10.1.0.0" with a netmask of "255.255.0.0", it should
work. When entering IP ranges, it's best to have any insignificant bits

set to 0 (some programs may not handle the addresses properly
otherwise). For class C ranges, this means that the IP should end with
".0"; for class B ranges, this means that it should end in ".0.0".

Note, though, that if the firewall is acting as a mailserver, you should

only set up IMail to relay for it if the firewall is set up to block
relaying. Otherwise, the firewall will allow anyone to relay, and IMail

will too (since the firewall is allowed to relay).
