Hi Alex, Did you try substituting HTML "symbolic entity names" for literal accented chacters? For instance, try this in your trailer.txt file:
"Ce message est distribué à tous les employés. Toute réponse à ce message sera distribuée à tous les employés." A complete table of these entity names can be found at (for example) http://www.ramsch.org/martin/uni/fmi-hp/iso8859-1.html Hope this does the trick for you; I can't test it right now. Does anyone on this list operate an Imail 8.01 server in Quebec or France? I'm having a small problem with French accents in trailer.txt and header.txt. Here's the text I placed in the mailing list's trailer.txt: "Ce message est distribu tous les employs. Toute rponse ce message sera distribue tous les employs." This is what the users actually got. "Ce message est distribui ` tous les employis. Toute riponse ` ce message sera distribuie ` tous les employis." The character set of the message was Western European, and the text was received like this on Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express and Incredimail, so I don't think it's at the user level. I've seen another such problem on an Imail version 4 installation some years back, except the accents were converted to Chinese characters. We never did figure it out back then, IIRC. Anyone have any ideas?
