I had the same issue 3 weeks ago after installing some new Windows 2000 updates prior to SP4. It would fail on connect to aol.com and other specific domains - connecting to others. I pulled all the pre-SP4 updates out and it started working again.
Installed SP4 last Wednesday and and after coaching the SP4 along, it's in and relatively happy. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Kevin Bilbee Sent: Monday, July 28, 2003 6:04 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [IMail Forum] OT: MX Connect Fail Here is the situation: Imail 7.15 Win2k SP3 Imail reports "MX connect Fail [12.9.25.243]" Other outbound connections also fail not just IMail. History: Did an inplace upgrade from NT 4sp6a to Win2k Sp3 The machine about every three days stops processing new outbound TCP connections. Continues to accept mail from our gateway and continue servicing existing TCP port services. IE: www, imail web client, pop, ... It was reccomended to me that it could be the NIC. Start with update the drivers - Same thing happened Next replace the NIC with a from Intel to 3Com latest 3com drivers - No change Questions: Does any one have a suggestion on where to go from here? I am going to apply SP4 tonight to see if there is a fix in there. But if that fails to fix the issue where should I go from here? Kevin Bilbee Network Administrator Standard Abrasives, Inc.
