Actually, in a business setting, missing one or two emails a week can be a huge deal. A single missed email can mean lost business or incurred liability.
This is quite true. I know of a case where someone ordered a $3,000+ product online, and was going to mail a check after receiving a confirmation via E-mail (to make sure the product was still in stock). The confirmation never was received. After several days, the customer contacted the vendor, and got it straightened out. The E-mail was caught by extra strict spam control on the customer's mailserver.
Had the customer not investigated, the small business that he was ordered from would have lost a $3,000+ sale (the only contact information they had was E-mail).
Home users will have family members try again or can call if they don't get their ebay confirmations.
I wonder how many sellers on eBay have received negative feedback because their E-mails were blocked ("Bad seller -- the seller never responded to my E-mails!")?
