Has anyone set up a backup server? I am trying to set one up and I don't know if I am doing anything wrong.
1. I have the mail relay set up on the secondary to have the whole primary server farm ip address range. 2. Are you suppose to on the secondary server enter in the IP address of the primary server as the gateway? 3. Also on the knowledge base, it says that the can't have the domain listed on the secondary server. Does that mean that I can't do mail.company.com for primary and mail2.company.com as the secondary? That I have to do secondary as mail.companysomethingelse.com? 4. Also it shows that I have to change the host configuration on the server to contain 0,0,0,0 mail.company.com. Do I need to set that for all the domains that the primary mail server hosts? 5. Am I suppose to have DNS servers listed on the secondary server or will that screw things up? 6. In the DNS configuration for each of the domains that the primary hosts, do I have to set an MX that points to mail2.company.com or am should I set up each domain as mail2.eachdomainhosted.com? Anything else that I might be missing?
