Title: RE: [IMail Forum] Anyway to just block all .pif files?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your contribution. My apologies in advance for the neophyte question I’m about to ask, but despite laboring over the User Guide and KB, I’ve never figured out how to configure the rules that are suggested on this list into IMail.

For example, a variation of this rule is suggested often on this list:

B~(name=".*\.vbs"|name=".*\.shs"|name=".*\.scr"|name=".*\.vba"|name=".*\.pif"|name=".*\.bat"|name=".*\.vbe"):NUL

I understand the syntax of the rule (if the body contains any of these variables delete the message) but I don’t understand how to get this rule, as written, into the rules.ima file.

If I want to add this rule to a particular host, do I select the Inbound/Outbound Rules Tab for the host and click the ADD button and re-build the rule piece-by-piece, or do I simply cut and paste the rule as written above into the “Search Text” and click “Add Condition”…?

Or, do I re-build the rule by selecting “If the Body Text” and “Contains” and paste the text between the parentheses (above) (including the parentheses?) into the “Search Text”, and then choose “Delete” from the Rules Tab as the action….?

I’m sure I’m making this more difficult than it really is….

Thanks in advance.

Daniel
