Have you tried restarting the smtp service. This usually works the magic that you need to get imail to do something pre 8.0x.

The "root" user is not given "Administrator" rights by default. I need
to give this user "Administrator" rights and have done so through the
Imail Administrator application. On my test machine, these settings did
not take affect immediately so I restarted the machine and it worked.
Now, taking this into production I'm faced w/ the problem of not being
able to reboot my production mail server at a whim. Is there a quick
way to force the update on user rights? I'm not sure which service
needs to be restarted since there are so many and I don't want to do
anything unnecessary.
