i have not tried this actually.

I hate stopping and starting the services in the middle of the day. We have
a couple of fairly large mail users who bitch fairly quickly if they cannot
connect even once.

If I do have to stop and start the services I will need to schedule
maintenance to do this I guess.

Have you tried stopping the services and then renaming his mailbox and then
recreating it? Or perhaps stop services and then try to change some of his
settings in imail?
