The problem isn't with being listed in rfc-ignorant.org but delivery
being rejected because it failed a single test. A weighted system would
have allowed the email through but marked it as failing this particular
test.

Please note this has been discussed at great length recently on this
list - the merits of single point failures and weighted test filtering.

Subject: [IMail Forum] A little OT: dsn.rfc-ignorant.org

This is more of a rant than a problem but has anyone heard of
rfc-ignorant.org?

I had a user call me the other day saying they had received some type of
error email message when trying to send to a specific address:

"We had an end user here at Gibson who was expecting an email
from this address (<user>@pacificgroup.net). Our mail server rejected
the email because the sending mail server is listed in
dsn.rfc-ignorant.org as not being compliant with RFC's. Thus, our spam
filter prevents the message from being delivered to the intended
recipients at Canwest Propane and Gibson Energy."

So I checked the website for rfc-ignorant.org and some guy had us listed
because we refuse NULL <> senders. It says right in the IMail help that
allowing no address in the MAIL FROM line makes it easier for spam
mailers to send bulk mail to your users.

I know that the RFC rules say that you are supposed to accept mail with
a blank from address but since the advent of spam are there really any
rules left? Isn't it pretty much gorilla warfare? I know this doesn't
stop spam but it helps to stop it.

Anyway, does anyone actually use this list and why? I think this list
is a joke. Any thoughts?
