This is more of a rant than a problem but has anyone heard of
rfc-ignorant.org?

Yes.

So I checked the website for rfc-ignorant.org and some guy had us listed
because we refuse NULL <> senders.

Great! That's exactly how it is supposed to work. You violate the RFCs, you get listed. :)

It says right in the IMail help that allowing no address in the MAIL FROM
line makes it easier for spam mailers to send bulk mail to your users.

You're running IMail v8.02, which requires you to go to the Advanced settings. Older versions of IMail did a bad job of steering people away from that poor setting, but v8 does a much better job.

FWIW, we see very few spams using a null return address.

I know that the RFC rules say that you are supposed to accept mail with a
blank from address but since the advent of spam are there really any rules
left? Isn't it pretty much gorilla warfare?

Some people do feel that way. But the real question is this: Do you know what other mail you are blocking by doing this? There is a reason the RFCs say that you have to accept such E-mail.

Anyway, does anyone actually use this list and why? I think this list is a
joke. Any thoughts?

Lots of people use it. Your "warfare" tactic means that you're making other mailserver administrators deal with your problems (specifically, they have to deal with double-bounces that you should be dealing with).

A lot of things seem like a joke until you understand why they are being done.
