Imail - slow server - mail delivery problems. My installation: Imail 8.03HF1 300 Local Users P3-800 with 1gb memory on an NT4.0 server. Declude Anti-Virus (MacAfee) Declude Spam block I am also using Imail Spam blocking Internet connection is a dedicated T1 100 baseT Ethernet internal network
I am blocking the following attachments: exe,com,bat,pif,txt,scr,jpg,gif,tif,bmp,mp3,mov,avi Usage: These are a weekly average SpamContent 433 SpamPhrase 69 LocalDeliver 7338 RemoteDeliver 2722 SpamFeatures 3 SpamUrlDomain 1009 I also average 500 blocked attachments /day and 400 virus notifications /day I am sending virus and ban notify notifications to %MAILFROM%;%ALLRECIPS% Problems: I am having problems with the spool directory filling up with files. I have to clean out 150+ unsent messages a day I am having delays of 60+ minutes when my spool directory is full of unsent messages. My CPU usage spikes seems to average 5-10% but has prolonged periods (2-3 minutes) of 70+% Local messages are now taking 15-20 minutes to process. Web Mail pages take 5-7 minutes to load 10 messages at a time. My questions: Am I slowing down my server with the notifications and scanning for attachments? What is the best way to handle blocking attachments and notifying users? Is there a way to quarantine the blocked attachment for later retrieval?
