As promised (even it it's a bit delayed), I've put the utility for 
parsing MBX files into discreet messags up on my web site.  It can be 
downloaded from:

This "release" version has a couple extra capabilities:

/hdr  -- write only the message header to the .msg file
/s:<number>  --  limit the .msg file size to <number> k-bytes.
The zip file also include some slightly less cheesy documentation.

Hope someone finds it useful.
