Title: Message
We have a domain mail user that has verizon for his ISP and forwards all email from our systems to his generic @verizon email;  Our expereince is that Verizon's email servers are problematic at least 10% of the time;  we receive alot of undeliverables for his forwarding just like you see there...(dispite this our user doesn't want to POP into his accts here - go figure)

Sincerely,

Subject: [IMail Forum] Bouncing mail to verizon.net

I am unsure why mail to verizon.net is bouncing…

When I telnet to their mailserver (206.46.170.12), I get a 421 error.

421 SMTP service not available, closing transmission channel

And I get the same 421 error in my IMAIL logs…
(00000314) Connect verizon.net [206.46.170.12:25] (1)

(00000314) 421 SMTP service not available, closing transmission channel

00000314) SMTP_DELIV_FAILED

00000314) >QUIT

00000314) requeuing D:\IMAIL\spool\Q4a28024a01225aaf.SMD R0 T4

When I use the dnsreport mail tool, it seems to connect up just fine.

Trying to connect to all mailservers: relay.verizon.net. - 206.46.170.12 [Successful connect: Got a good response [250 Recipient Ok]]

Mail to verizon is spooling on my mail server, and bouncing after 20 attempts.

I am running the dnsreport and telnetting, both from the Imail server.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Sharyn
