I cannot find any such file. I tried deleting the personal.idx file and it did not
work. I have been gradually rebuilding mailboxes and that seems to do the trick,
albeit a very tedious process. I have had over a dozen report the problem, God only
knows how many more there are. The corruption appears to be a result of incomplete
messages in the file. A lot of lines that only read "From <email_address> date and
time" and nothing else. If I copy and paste what complete messages there are into a
clean mailbox and and then overwrite the three "Main" files (as someone suggested
earlier), it reports the correct size or at least close enough and does not increase
in size with every login.

The dictionary attack that our server went through has seemed to cease. There are no
longer thousands of messages in the spool file (Thank God). However, I am still
getting a few hundred undeliverables piling up in this folder. I have come to the
conclusion that my root/postmaster account is not functioning properly. The reason I
believe this is that I am not getting any virus alerts since the attack. Does anyone
know how I can fix this? Do I need to re-create the postmaster alias or is there
something else I need to do? Help, please.

Thanks,

Ron

Try delete the mailbox.idx file.
Il should solve the reported value.

I was referring to the mailbox size not being correctly reported (in
webmail). However, now that you mention it, I think a "me too" applies
with regard to dictionary attack as well.

I wondering if Ipswitch might be working on a fix I was referring to
[1].

Which of the 4 problems?

[1] The problem with the mailbox size not being reported correctly (the
one
you *should* be referring to), [2] The other problem the user had, with
WebShield's horrible logging and naming causing problems, [3] "Loads of
mail in spool" (the subject, which doesn't appear to be relevant), or
[4]
the dictionary attack?

This thread is worse than usual because it started out with a most
likely
invalid "me too", followed by a vague "me too."
