We have since May been blocking all .exe and a lot of other extensions We are now handling around 900 k off messages per week and of those we are blocking around 47 % on the Imgate servers in front. We have only had 2 complaints from our 100k of users because of blocking attachments.
After a lot of frostration on trying to handle the mail and spam on the Imail boxes I gave up and startet blocking on the gateway. I am sure I could have blocked more but now the servers can handle the amount of mails. Sorry to say it but Imail sucks on performance. I have 2 * 600$ boxes in front handling Imgate and all this mail. load is around 0.12 One of the boxes handling Imail is a 4way 20000$ box and can't handle more than around 35 000 mailadresses before its slowing down. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Len Conrad > Sent: 20. januar 2004 15:44 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] New "BAGLE" virus in the wild!! > > > Bagle's arrival apparently before the major AV databases were > updated is an > excellent argument for rejecting all .exe's and other > executable email > content with non-AV filtering rules before passing the msgs to AV. > > Again, it's playing the averages and being prudent.
