>IMail recognized the problem early on, and came out with a fix for it. Scott, just to set the record straight: The problem with IMail and Windows 2003 still exists but there is another variable in the equation. IMail 8.* + Windows 2003 + a large number of virtual mail hosts
I'm not sure what that number is but we have a couple of mail servers with over 2000 virtual mail hosts on each. On Windows 2000 Server it works fine. On Windows 2003 Server it is unusable. We also have a gateway server (IMail 8.05 + Declude) which DOES run on Windows 2003 and it runs fine but this is only because as a gateway it has one mail host configured on it. IIRC, you experienced the problem after switching from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003. There are known issues with IMail (pre-8.05) and Windows 2003. Although this technically could be considered an IMail performance issue, it is the type of behavior that you need to expect being an early adopter of a new OS version. IMail recognized the problem early on, and came out with a fix for it. There is a very big difference between saying generically "IMail has performance problems" versus "IMail versions before v8.05 have performance problems on Windows 2003." -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers.
