Imail AV works very well for me. I do not have the notification system
enabled, because in the first 5 minutes of use on my server it caught
75-80 virus, and generated notification for each one. I didn't need the
extra traffic on the server.

You would need to make sure in the processes of your server you see
symscan.exe and sswchdog.exe running. Also, make sure on the AV tab
found in local host you have the scanning enabled.

If you have all domains with their own IP, at the bottom of the main
page for each one is a box that says (virus scanning). Make sure that
is checked also.

If you have all this done, and no notification is being sent, then you
are lucky.. unless it truly is not catching virus's. If you have these
checked and the AV wasn't working, your mail would be requed. It
happened to me after installing (I screwed up activating the license)
and watched my spool get HUGE.

I am not sure if this helped, but so far so good with me and the IMAIL
av solution.. although.. when up for renewal I will be suggesting
Declude to my boss.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Symantec AntiVirus and IMail

I have a question about Symantec AntiVirus in IMail. I realize probably
3/4
of this thread probably uses the Declude offering, but I am sure there
must
be someone who uses the IMail Symantec offering.

I wouldn't pretend to do anywhere near the number of email a day as most
of
you do. 1,000 a day would be a heavy day well over 50% of that is spam.
Yet
in months of using the Symantec AntiVirus, I have yet to see a single
virus
caught. Now on the flipside, I have yet to have one pass through either.
I
have the system setup to notify me and the user if a virus is detected,
but
it's never triggered. Logs don't show any detection either.

In the last several weeks I have all the sudden seen a number of emails
come
in with NULL Bodies, or no attached messaged. In most cases, the header
isn't even complete. I can find nothing in the logs that lead me to
believe
this was a virus incoming, but I am wondering why I see several of these
a
day now when I never saw them a month ago (8.05?).

So, I guess I have 2 questions. Does anyone use the IMail Symantec
offering
and does the notification system actually work? And is anyone seeing an
increase in emails with NULL or no bodies in the last several weeks or
is
this the AntiVirus?
