10054 errors are caused by users starting to download a page and then whilst in the middle of downloading the page they click on another link. The browser then aborts the download of the original page and writes a 10054 error for each object it has aborted the download for.
This behaviour can be invoked at will by selecting a (preferably rather large email) and before it is fully loaded click on one of the folder or other links repeatedly. After spending 3 months looking for the cause of this problem - and seeing that changing the NICs had absolutely no affect I can pretty much guarantee that user behaviour is the cause of this problem and nothing you need to worry about.
