Eric, About a month ago, we upgraded to V8.05. We also are running dual 1Ghz, but with a heavier load than you cite. However, our normal CPU usage is typically 2% - 5%. Over the last couple of weeks, I have seen a half-dozen or so instances of iwebmsg pegging the cpu at 99%. The only way to correct the problem is to stop the iwebmsg service and restart it. We keep the console logged on, with Task Manager up and services app up, with iwebmsg pre-selected. We think it is caused by specific messages being opened, but have not yet identified any thing specific.
I have been running IMail since version 4.x. If I had to choose a portion of IMail as problematic, it would be web messaging. Every version I have used has had a problem with web messaging either crashing and exiting (not for many versions) or pegging the CPU (since it stopped crashing). While it is not frequent enough to cause me to pull out my hair or go running around screaming, it is frequent enough to be annoying. For those who might ask, no we do not run the IMail monitoring service on the mail server. We monitor with a different tool from another machine. The only IMail services running are SMTP, POP3, Web Mail, Syslog. We use Declude Virus and Junkmail. The only other foreign services running are Diskeeper and F-Prot (On-Access is not installed). OS is Win2K with latest patches as of two weeks ago. Just think about job security. If nothing ever crashed, hung, or simply dropped dead, around here I could have a life....
