The only solution we're using for this kind of security is using a Switch who can work with VLAN's.
This way you can configure each room as a separate VLAN towards you're internet gateway. As always, this list is an incredible resource and I hope you don't feel I'm taking too much advantage... A client of ours has a 15 room hotel, and wishes to deploy broadband Internet access to all the rooms. The issue, of course, is security -- how to allow someone to plug their machine into an ethernet port in a room and let them get on the web, without being able to see any other machines on the hotel network. They will be using DSL or Cable Modem as the connection pipeline, and we'll have to deploy a DHCP server somewhere in the mix. This is the exact opposite of what my company has done since 1997 -- we're used to getting machines onto a network so the CAN see each other! ;) I'm interested to hear how others would approach this situation, at the lowest cost possible... a 15 room hotel will take some time for this investment to pay for itself, so we don't want to propose some complex implementation. Any thoughts? Thanks again for listening to a non-iMail issue on the iMail list. Feel free to contact me off-list if you want to keep the noise down.
