We have no problems with Interscan. We are currently using v. 3.53 and are
considering the update to 3.55. Did you begin you open relay problems begin
before 3.55 or is that the 1st version you installed?

On the advanced tab we have checked "Accept inbound mail addressed only
to..." and have in the field:
 "mail.ourdomain.com, ourdomain.com, [ip.ip.ip.ip], virtualdomain.com"

This has proven to be effective aginst relaying based on ORDB's and other's
tests.

FYI, in case you didn't know, there is a configuration entry that allows
blocking of included attachments and there is a configuration that forces IS
to scan the whole body of an email rather than just the attachments. We
found that IS was missing some of the latest viruses because it didn't
recognize that there was an attachment. Our realtime AV scanner was picking
them up(and killing them) in the spool directory of Imail.
