Hi Chris, This is the only way to release a new peace of software, i think ;-)
We're deploying every software and/or updates with our software deployment tool. This means, we have to create a 'package' first. This package will be tested on a test system in our intranet. If the package passed the testing, it will be installed on the productive system. Unfortunately, not all bugs, or even new bugs of a patch, can be trapped on the test server. Some bugs are visible only on full load, e.g. tons of users getting their mails in the morning. The other good thing is this: Working with a software deployment tool offers a reproduceble (ohh, difficult to spell, might be wrong..) environment. A reinstall or a partial reinstall of a server would be made pretty fast and easy. ==================================== Am Sonntag, 13.
