Incorrect. The Microsoft DNS Client service may be disabled without disrupting DNS resolution through remote DNS servers.
from the default text of the MS "DNS client" service description seen in control panel/services:
"Resolves and __caches___ Domain Name System (DNS) names for this computer. If this service is stopped, this computer will not be able to resolve DNS names and locate Active Directory domain controllers. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start."
So you are saying this text is incorrect?

You are confusing the Microsoft DNS Client, an installed (and often counterproductive) service
The "DNS client" one in "services" is installed by default. So you are saying MS installs their own service by default and its often counterproductive?
providing "extended" DNS services, with the generic core gethostbyname() DNS resolution API. They are not identical.
so there are 2 DNS resolvers in Windows, one in the services panel and one somewhere else.
