As a very active lurker and sometimes participant to this list, the idea of seeing a forum for this product is very disturbing to me. I watched the ColdFusion fusebox lists go from active, vibrant, intelligent lists to a fragmented, practically dead community almost overnight. People started "new" lists elsewhere because they didn't like the new forums, they started "new" lists elsewhere because they didn't like where the formerly-active lists were being hosted, etc. etc. Those communities are now mere shells of their former selves, and I would venture to say that there are many people that are using mail reader tools based on receiving emails from a listserv, to parse out and obtain the information of interest to them, and are going to be hesitant to simply "start using the forums"... in a way, the emails from the list are just "always there for us" to read right in our mail readers, carry with us on laptops, etc... web based forums don't really have the same usefulness (though they do have their own good points too).
PLEASE, DON'T KILL OFF THIS LIST by fragmenting this iMail community!! > -----Original Message----- > From: Sanford Whiteman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, July 15, 2004 2:48 PM > To: Eric Shanbrom [Ipswitch] > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Jill Jones > Subject: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] New Ipswitch Forums no Imail? > > > Eric, David, Tripp, Jill: > > > http://www.ipswitch.com/forums/messages.aspx?ForumID=10 > > Please tell me there's a plan to import the tens of thousands of > archived mailing list posts into the new bulletin board system! > > And please tell me that, if there's going to be a change in preferred > support channels, there will be an official announcement to the > well-populated and very active mailing list. > > The availability of the new system has certainly blindsided the > largely peer-supported mailing list, and it will be very difficult to > provide advanced support--as we have for years--if new IMail users > turn to a relatively unattended channel. > > --Sandy > > > ------------------------------------ > Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist > Broadleaf Systems, a division of > Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. > e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! > > http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/do wnload/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange Addresses into IMail Aliases! http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
