We have teachers that travel with laptops and use outlook. They need to send and receive email from anywhere. We had relay for address set on the server and email worked both ways. We recently we added a Cisco pix to our network. I opened ports TCP 110, 443, 106, 8399, and 80 for Webmail. We also have outlook setting “My outgoing server requires authentication” check for everyone. Currently it not letting them send email from outside our network. I changed the SMTP settings to relay for local users only and it seemed to work. I have read that using that setting is not very secure. Are there other ports I need to open on the pix or change settings on the server? Any suggestions would be helpful.
