Keep your boot partion under 9 Gb and you get a free bonus!

The new double-layer DVD recorders have that capacity (single layer records have only
around 4.7 GB) so if you get a DL DVD burner you can easily make complete image
backups of your boot partition without having to span media.

DL DVD disks are around $13 each, not as cheap as SL DVD's or CD-R's, but being able
to make backups easily is a nice benefit of burner capacity browing faster than OS
bloat (for about the first time in a long time since I can remember)

Hi Daniel

You should at least have 6GB but I recommend that you use 8GB or more to
have a good chance to defrag the disk with good results later on.

This depends on what other components and programs being run on the server.
Then you have to calculate the sizes of each mailbox vs the system
partition.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Boot partition size for Win 2003?

Hi,

Any recommendations for Boot partition size for Win 2003 Server, with 18GB
Ultra 320 Drives? (2 drives, RAID 1).

The HP Proliant Smart Start CD set the default 'recommended minimum' at
4.2GB... that seems kinda low, but the drives aren't very big to begin with
(more than enough capacity for our modest Imail needs).

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, Daniel
