Have you looked at the new REV drives from Iomega?

I just order four of the USB drives along with 4-pak media bundles for some of our clients earlier today.
Fast than tape, low cost, comes with bundled backup software (or treat like a HDD), 30 year shelf life on the media and no moveable heads to crash like a HDD.

Personally I prefer a portable HD and a desktop shortcut to a batch file whose core is
xcopy [drive]:*.* /s /e /c /r /y /d
Keep a second portable HD and take it home every day (or whenever) for offsite backups (or just carry the same one home every day if you're strapped for $).
Once per week write a different batch file that flushes the HD and makes a fresh copy, since deleted files will remain on the backup (which isn't necessarily bad).
And never again worry about which incremental file set has your current data on it. And just copy files when you need them.
Once I ran a 10-stn network off a portable HD when a supposedly fault-tolerant RAIDed server died in toto. Didn't run *well* but they didn't have to send employees home, either.
I do this with a couple of 250gb Maxtor One-Touch HD's, myself (don't install the 1T software). Good riddance to tapes.
