I've been trying to test if my store and forward setup is working properly, but unfortunately I do not have a test bed, so I've been dabbling with my production servers. I don't want to dabble too long, because if I get things wrong, I have clients who will get a little pissed
Here is my configuration so far: The main server (let say mail.domain.com) is configured for several virtual domains and relaying is enabled for the IP for, mail2.domain.com (the store and forward server.) The store and forward server Imail setup, mail2.domain.com, only has one domain, mail2.domain.com, no users, no alias, etc. The MX records for domain.com are 10 mail.domain.com and 20 mail2.domain.com. So far so good? I have client1 MX as 10 mail.client1.com and 20 mail2.domain.com. Thee host file on the store and forward server has <ip for mail.domain/client1.com> client1.com mail.client1.com I have allowed relaying on the store and forward server for the IP for the main server. I've read the KB articles on setting this up and I *think* this is done properly, but due to a limited time window to check, I cannot truly feel safe, so I'm looking for a nod of approval or a little correction on this.
